One of my favorite things about going to Madison, aside from visiting all of my beautiful friends, is shopping at Goziraya. This hard to find store (it took me at least six months to figure out how to get in) is well worth the work it takes to get there.
Once inside, this vintage store feels like it belongs in the heart of Tokyo (it helps that the owners don't speak very much English). It's pieces are a bit different from what you would find in typical vintage stores and they carry not only clothing, but also home accessories.
So, how do I get to it?
Located at 406 W. Gilman St, you have to hunt a bit for the entrance. Walking down state street, turn onto Gilman. Walk one or two stores down and its awkward door will be hiding there behind a corner. Go in, walk past the bar, up some twisted stairs, through a vinyl curtain. If the space is dark, low, hot, and cramped, then you are in the right place. Enjoy.
